VISA REQUIRED, PASSPORT REQUIRED

OVERVIEW
For US citizens a valid passport and valid Indian visa to enter and exit India for any purpose. Visitors, including those on official U.S. government business, must apply for visas at an Indian Embassy or Consulate abroad before entering the country. Visas are not available upon arrival for U.S. citizens.

Visa applications for minors -
Minor applicants must have copy of both parents' passports. This is in addition to the existing proof of address requirement and the birth certificate requirement. Effective monday march 15th, 2010

TOURIST TRAVEL:

Step 1 - Gather the Following Requirements

Current Passport

Applicant must submit their current passport. India visas are stamped into a passport, therefore the the original passport is required.
Note: In order to obtain India visas, passport must have one blank visa page (typically the last few pages of the passport are marked "Amendment" and are not valid for visas) and must be valid for at least six months past the date of entry into India.

 1.2

Photo Requirement

Applicant must submit two (2) identical, color, passport style photographs. The photos must be recent and generally should not be the same used for the passport itself. Passport photos can be obtained at most post offices, Kinko's, Walgreens, etc.
Note: The Indian Embassy will not accept visa photos if applicant is wearing glasses.

Proof of Travel

Applicant must submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online booking tool (such as e-confirmation from an airline or Travelocity, Orbitz, etc) showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure for India.

 1.4

Proof of Residency

Applicant must submit legible color copy of their driver's license or state issued ID. If applicant has recently moved and not updated their ID, applicant must also provide a recent utility bill (water, sewer, electric).

Supplemental Form

Applicant must submit one completed and signed "Particulars Form".

Any errors, no matter how small, will result in application being denied. Please review the "Application Guide" provided by ItsEasy before and while completing the online application.

Note: Applicant must sign BOTH pages of the completed application. Signatures MUST stay within the boundaries of the signature area.

There are several requirements specific to children. Please read each of the following:
1) Application Signatures:
If child is old enough to sign their name (generally 10 years old and above), the child signs their name in the signature box in the upper right of page one of the completed, printed application. On page two of the completed, printed application the mother and the father sign in the signature area .
If child is NOT old enough to sign their name (generally less than 10 years old), the child provides a thumb print in the signature box in the upper right of page one of the completed application. On page two of the completed, printed application the mother and the father sign in the signature area.  In order to provide a thumbprint, you may, scribble on a piece of paper with a pencil and roll the finger in the graphite, rub a felt tip pen on the child's finger or use other ink source (it is recommended that permanent marker is avoided for both the obvious reason as well as the toxic nature of permanent ink).
2) Notarization:
The above step regarding signatures must be done in the presence of, and sealed by, a public notary.
3) Additional Documents:
Although child's application may be submit along with other family members to ItsEasy, when submitted to an embassy or consulate, applications are treated individually. Therefore, children's applications must be accompanied by each of the following:

  • Color copies of parents valid passports. At least one parental passport copy must be submitted. If the other parent does not have a valid passport, include color copies of driver's license or other state issued ID. If either, or both, parents are not US citizens, include copies of ID and copies of US visa or permanent resident card (Green card). A copy of the child's birth certificate (not the original document) and notarized translation if applicable. Include a letter of authorization for child to obtain visa and travel.

BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Business Cover Letter 

Applicant must submit a Business Cover Letter (BCL) from a U.S. company. The BCL must be an original signed document on company letterhead indicating the date, duration and purpose of travel to India, list a contact and address at the host company, and observe moral and financial responsibility for the applicant. Please review the example below.
Note: Business Cover Letter must clearly state duration of visa request. This request must match both the letter of Invitation and the request made on the application itself.
For example: "We are requesting Mr. Jones a five-year multiple entry business visa"

Certificate of Incorporation & Letter of Invitation

Applicant must submit a clear copy of the inviting company's "Certificate of Incorporation". An example of this document can be viewed here.
Applicant must also submit a Letter of Invitation from the inviting party or organization in India. The letter should introduce the applicant, detail the purpose of the trip to India, provide dates of the visit and be signed by a company officer with contact details included. Scanned/printed copies are generally acceptable. Please review the example below.
Note: Letter of Invitation must clearly state duration of visa request. This request must match both the Business Cover Letter and the request made on the application itself.
For example: "We are requesting Mr. Jones a five-year multiple entry business visa"
