OVERVIEW
For US citizens a passport and a visa are required, as is evidence of a yellow fever vaccination.

Step 1 - Gather the Following Requirements

 1.1

Current Passport

Applicant must submit their current passport. Ghana visas are stamped into a passport, therefore the the original passport is required.
Note: In order to obtain Ghana visas, passport must have one blank visa page (typically the last few pages of the passport are marked "Amendment" and are not valid for visas) and must be valid for at least six months past the date of entry into Ghana.

 1.2

Photo Requirement

Applicant must submit four (4) identical, color, passport style photographs. The photos must be recent and generally should not be the same used for the passport itself. Passport photos can be obtained at most post offices, Kinko's, Walgreens, etc.

 1.3

Proof of Travel

Applicant must submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online booking tool (such as e-confirmation from an airline or Travelocity, Orbitz, etc) showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure for Ghana.

Although applicant may be submitting documents along with other family members, when submitted to an embassy or consulate, applications are treated individually. If applicant is under 18 years old, include the following:
1) Color copies of parents valid passports. If either, or both, parents do not have valid passports, include color copies of driver's license or other state issued ID. If either, or both, parents are not US citizens, include copies of ID and copies of US visa or permanent resident card (Green card).
2) Include a letter of authorization for child to obtain visa and travel.

Medical/Health Requirement

Although not technically required, it is highly recommended that applicant provide proof of Yellow Fever vaccination as this is required for entry into Ghana and is often requested by the consulate during the visa process.

Applicant must submit four (4) completed Ghana visa applications. Applications should be printed single-sided and signed in blue or black ink only.

BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Business Cover Letter 

Applicant must submit a Business Cover Letter (BCL) from a U.S. company. The BCL must be an original signed document on company letterhead indicating the date, duration and purpose of travel to Ghana, list a contact and address at the host company, and observe moral and financial responsibility for the applicant. Please review the example below.

 1.5

Letter of Invitation

Applicant must submit a Letter of Invitation from the inviting party or organization in Ghana. The letter should introduce the applicant, detail the purpose of the trip to Ghana, provide dates of the visit and be signed by a company officer with contact details included.
Scanned/printed copies are generally acceptable.

 1.6
